On the rugged Hāna coast, along the far eastern shores of the Hawaiian island of Maui, Kahanu Garden grows in splendid isolation. Kahanu Garden is a 294-acre (119 ha) botanical garden located on the Hāna Highway (close to the 31-mile / 50 km marker) near Hāna, Maui, Hawaiʻi.Part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden System, Kahanu Gardens is filled with 123 acres of tropical plants, including more than 120 varieties. Kahanu Garden in Hana serves as the guardian for an important archaeological site, the enormous, centuries old stone temple known as Pi'ilanihale Heiau.Kahanu Garden on Maui is part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden system.
